WNC WOMAN is a monthly publication "celebrating the strength, wisdom, and grace of women." ... and once a year, of men! We saw a need for a publication for women that honored their intelligence, their creativity, and their accomplishments. We want to read about women doing stuff: building things—whether it is barns, businesses, or better mousetraps; fixing things, whether it is her plumbing, her car, or her life. We want to know what you have done that you never thought you could do. We want to read about you turning around a bad situation. We want to read about things that work: successful alliances formed, dreams manifested, obstacles overcome. We are not about the surface adornment of woman but about her depths: her spirit, her determination... and her sense of humor! We like to laugh at ourselves, too. For YEARS we resisted recipes as that is SUCH a cliché for a women's magazine. In our fifth year we capitulated... and devoted a whole ISSUE to food. We invited each author to include a recipe with her piece, but the issue was not about food per se but rather about food in our lives, food and meals growing up, how we can both scorn and celebrate being assigned the rôle as "cook", etc. We loved it and so did our readers! We are really more like a literary magazine than anything else. We are a platform for women sharing their wisdom, what makes them laugh, what moves them. We look to celebrate the good in life rather than bemoan what is not working. We are NOT about women's health (that is done everywhere), except as it relates to a woman's journey, or about informational articles on just about anything. We are not seeking experts to tell us how it is, but rather about each of us telling her own story, sort of like the blind men and the elephant: each of us has a piece of the puzzle. Together we can make miracles!
We invite you to subscribe to the print version of WNC WOMAN for $36/year or read it online for free.
