In my core being I am music! Cells dancing in a cosmic dance, heart beating in rhythm to a song that Spirit wrote just for me. Music is my gift. I experience intense joy when singing and playing and dancing, living in a state of grace and freedom of spirit. It is then I know I am doing exactly what I was born to do. From the beginning of creation, music has been a part of the rhythm of life. Music has been used to celebrate events such as weddings and births, and also to ease the transition from life to death. Many cultures intuitively grasped the therapeutic value of music and its ability to touch the heart and emotions. More and more we are becoming aware of how vibrations affect the quality of our lives. We are all vibrational beings; everything, even rocks, vibrates at an atomic level. We resonate, bodies vibrating together at sympathetic frequencies, much like strings on a violin. Sound is vibration. We register, at a cellular level, everything we hear and even things we don’t pick up with our ears. Music, particularly when played with intention, supports health. There is now substantial documentation for the therapeutic value of music. Modern studies have been conducted on the actual physiology of music as medicine. Studies have shown consistently that music has a profound ability to change body rhythms and release the body’s own natural painkillers. Music can reduce blood pressure, regulate respiration and heart rate, reduce stress and relieve anxiety. Deep relaxation becomes possible. Music also provides a segue for grieving and facilitates the transitional process of dying. "Deep Breath" was created in response to a reflexologist's request for music which follows the flow of a one hour session. Recorded live during a reflexology session, the client promptly fell asleep and the therapist and sound engineer were effectively sedated. Created with the intention of providing support and healing, it is effective during therapy sessions and personal meditation. "A Sister's Love" was recorded as a gift to a dear friend who was traveling to Boston for liver transplant surgery. Her brother had been ill for many years with liver disease and only a transplant would give him any hope of survival. Her selfless gift to her brother moved me deeply and I wanted to send my prayers for healing in the form of a CD since I could not be physically present with them. Both CDs are original compositions or arrangements on Native American flutes, with the exception of one vocal arrangement of a traditional Latin hymn, Tantum Ergo. CDs are $15 each plus S&H.
